No job is so important that we cannot perform our work safely
The above statement is one of the most important principles of our Corporate Occupational Health & Safety Program.
At Clark Freightways we take health and safety very seriously. In order to demonstrate the company’s commitment, all senior managers and supervisors
are held accountable for health and safety compliance as part of their annual performance reviews. However, everyone at Clark Freightways shares the
same responsibility for ensuring a safe work environment. It is our philosophy
that by keeping our people safe and working safely we keep our costs down.
|
 |
The company maintains six strategic safety priorities throughout the organization including;
- Communication and awareness throughout the organization is commonplace
- All injuries, incidents and near-misses are reported and investigated to develop corrective action plans
- Effective utilization of the Early and Safe Return-to-Work Program
- Standardized and comprehensive training and orientation
- Proactive identification and elimination of hazards
- Emergency preparedness planning
In order to achieve our strategic safety objectives the company has developed one of the most comprehensive Occupational Health & Safety Programs within the industry and provides every employee with an exhaustive safety orientation and training. Our OH&S program has been designed to meet or exceed all requirements of the Certificate of Recognition (COR) Program as implemented by the Trucking Safety Council of BC (TSCBC), in partnership with WorkSafeBC.
|
|
The COR program recognizes and rewards companies that develop and implement sustainable health and safety programs that meet and exceed industry safety requirements, as verified by a comprehensive independent safety audit.
Clark Freightways is proud to be the first BC based carrier to be recognized for our commitment to health and safety by earning the Certificate of Recognition (COR) in September of 2010.
